Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie ... Goodbye New Zealand? ... Oi Oi Oi!

Our last week in New Zealand is at the end. It's time, the exciting last few days and to have the entire tour's events. The breathtaking scenery of the Southern Alps in the rearview mirror, it was the east coast of Hanmer Springs to Kaikoura. A few days later attracted Christchurch, the "capital of the South Island with its museums, galleries and historic buildings. Sorry, but this city is located in the airport, which transported us into a machine to Melbourne and thus heralds the end of our Kiwi-time.
At the end of our journey, we arrived after about 5500 km in Christchurch.

But really to end the Kiwi-time is not perhaps be that we are again briefly in Auckland and then we can say goodbye really from New Zealand. For this we can just yet, although the desire for the Christmas Berlin is very big too!

Kaikoura
After a stop in Hanmer Springs, which lured us with its geothermal sources (including delicious Smell of rotten eggs is) the coastal town of Kaikoura on the plan. With picturesque mountain scenery in the hinterland, and almost before seals, dolphins and whales bubbling coast, the city offers a lot when ... yes, if the weather cooperates. In wet weather there is unfortunately a little that way ... The mountains can be only in his imagination in the gray soup, think, blowing most of the boat charter from their tours in bad weather. Only the seals that are in this city well in the majority, can not be bothered and left around dozing on the beach. Initially restrict our activities then even more, explore them again, and again sleeping! My God, I can sleep well, if it rains. It drippelt and drips ... I can sleep again! Well, anyway ... spoil our last day in Kaikoura awaited us after all the sunshine. You should use the time ... maybe with a helicopter flight over the sea to observe sperm whales and dolphins! Jenny is perhaps even more confused because the sun shines. I use the brief moment of mental derangement and book the flights for both of us. Only now understands the tear, which will wait in a few hours to us, to begin their high-heeled legs tremble ...
helicopter Roger ... Roger ... over and out ...
The space miracle ...

At the airport there is a brief introduction, some info on the Marine life and before we provide, we are sitting in a helicopter that is felt less than ne cell phone. Jenny's leg flapping is now gone in my legs. Impossible that this helicopter could lift my weight into the air. Split second later, we float. Very versatile, a Schrubhauber. Everything shakes funny and the legroom is roughly comparable to the one on the back of a Trabbis.
A bird's eye view ...

After a few minutes, the first whale is spotted, a majestic sight. While at Whale-watching boat trips are often just a fin or the back of the animal is seen to the far away, we get the whole body of the marine mammal offered. Hach, how beautiful! The Dolphins, coming along in flocks of hundreds of animals to be listed only in passing, we have seen Moby Dick! After 30 minutes, the spell is unfortunately over, the memory of that pleasure is short but perhaps even longer rumgeistern in our heads.
... da issa ... up to 20 meters long, similar to how hungry I (500-1000 kg per day)
... and a sperm whale ...

These dark spots are dolphins, jumping ahead of next ...

So a whale is not easy to get out of my head and Basti first had to arrange his thoughts again and one can probably best if one listens to the mattress. Meanwhile, I took advantage of the time and tried the local fish specialties. In almost every guidebook as was the fact that you eat must necessarily Crayfisch in Kaikoura. Well, sure you have not, so this delicious lobster-lobster-like fish have again or not.

Christchurch Area

But in short, after much strength for both of us it was back on Highway 1 towards Christchurch, only to jet to the city by and for Banks to drive Peninsula. There, we were surprised by an unusually beautiful sunset, we could end the day of the first times on a lonely forest campground.
On the Banks Peninsula ...

The next morning, after roller-coaster ride awaited us Akaroa, a charming little town on the sea, where can certainly spend good retirement. Since we were strangely not tired, then we went to Christchurch, the last issue of our trip in New Zealand. At first it seemed as if our last days would be marked in New Zealand by rain, but also helped the sleep of the innocent and the Sun was back on our side.
The Cathedral Square of Christchurch

We were able to spend a fine, beautiful sunny day in the cultural metropolis of New Zealand. A ride in the tram provided us with the necessary overview of the City Center, even if the railway officially discontinued in 1953, but the tourists love it fumbles but lost things ever gone out again.
The old tram ... by the way, if they even slower moves, it rolls backwards ...

were in the Art Gallery for a sense of the contemporary New Zealand art, even if you doubt once again on his mind. A tour through the art market, there was not just for the eye but also for the stomach. The final walk through the Botanical Garden reinforced the feeling that Christchurch is a very cozy, European-inspired town, of course, apart from the many massive temples, which are here at every turn.
culture ... well, more or less ...
... always consistent: Modern and Classical

With all these new and wonderful impressions we leave New Zealand for now and wish you a Merry Christmas and a great third Sunday of Advent!

series I am but a plain! The last days just as it did the entire tour was a fun murder. Our mobile one-room apartment has a good fight and led us to places that we some time ago not even would have dreamed of (or perhaps because we simply did not know !?!), their beauty but will always have a place somewhere in the attic with us. From deserted, with the turquoise sea coast beaches of seething volcanic landscapes, evergreen rain forests, past snow-capped mountains and strange desert landscapes to rugged coastlines, which offer an incredible variety of sea creatures, we was permitted to do pretty much every facet of New Zealand. For this we are truly grateful. Sniff ...
Well, in the near future we are gonna wind us then on the east coast of Australia ... We shall remain until the next episode with a triple Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie Oi Oi Oi ...!
Cheers ... and by the seals ...
